"SOPHIE CHINTZ" gets it name from James Sadler's sister Sophie and dates back to the early 1900s.

According to Warman's English and Continental Pottery & Porcelain the earliest chintz dates back to 1800s.  Commonly sought after names are Royal Winton, Crown Ducal, James Kent, and  Shelley Potteries Ltd.
